Preserve our Small Town Feel
Agoura Hills is different because we strive to preserve our small-town feel with its rustic and rural character. We care very much about how our buildings look and we are careful to make sure that what is developed here in our City maintains that feel. I have served on the Planning Commission for seven years and helped to maintain that feel — I was the sole vote against the Cornerstone Project — and I will carry that passion to the City Council.
Protect our Open Spaces
Mayor Buckley Weber appointed me to the Planning Commission in 2016 where I helped to shape the look and feel of development coming into our city, ensuring that we maintained our rural character and small town feel. I was the sole vote against the Cornerstone development when it came to the Planning Commission. These are exciting times for our town, as we are soon to be home to the largest wildlife bridge in the world
Keep our Community Strong and Welcoming
Our City works hard to build a strong and welcoming community. From our Community Service Days to robust offerings at the Community Center, we create the conditions for a thriving and connected civic life in Agoura Hills. Neighbors know each other, clubs and activities abound. In a world where disconnection and isolation are a growing problem, it is important that we maintain and strengthen this strong sense of community. Arts is a key contributor to our strong sense of community. I served for a brief time on the Arts Commission before returning to the Planning Commission. I also served on the Board of Youth Musical Theater and am the mother of a CalArts student majoring in Stage Management. I am a community builder at heart. These values run deep in me too and will be a top priority for me as a City Council member.
Respect for the Natural Environment
Agoura Hills as a community cares deeply about the natural environment around us. As a former staff member for Congressman Henry Waxman, one of the country’s strongest environmentalists, as well as novice birder, a “Citizen Scientist” with Project Phoenix, the wife of an avid hiker and mother of an Ecology major, these values run deep in me and I will bring them to the City Council.
